This isn’t a joke to me. But it is f*king hilarious.

Yes, I’m writing a blog post. Well wonders never cease, yes?

As strange as it seems, the last 30 days ended on a high note. Yes, I’m looking at probably

Taking a break from web work.
Taking a break from web work.

30 more days in bed, which sucks nuts but yesterday, actually it was Friday returning home from the doctor’s office, I came to a substantial realization. You might want to call it an epiphany, it wasn’t as dramatic as that but I came to realize some important things about how I spend my time and my struggles to try and be productive. I think I’m going to be taking a more active role within my Sisters’s organization. Of which, she was recently made CEO. (Go Sally.) Over the years, Sally has rolled the dice and given me some major projects involving quite a bit of graphic design, video editing and flash type work. Beginning in the middle of last year I took on the challenge of transferring the company’s website hosting from one service provider to another as well as a complete redesign which included converting everything from being Joomla! based to WordPress. Trust me, it’s nowhere near as glamorous as it sounds. The real kicker lies in the fact that the day before we started project I had no idea how to do what I had committed to do. Yeah, “fuck,” exactly.

This is exactly what they mean by on-the-job training, no lie. So, with the help of a young programmer who is conveniently located in Chandigarh, India (which makes for interesting scheduling issues) I’m continuing with the site transfer/redesign while trying to educate myself in preparation of our next project (to be named later.) My train of thought seems to have slid off course with regard to this blog post. Okay, back to my epiphany.

I realize now how easily I created my own barriers to finishing things in a timely manner. And when I say a ‘timely manner,’ I’m not talking about deadline (which is constantly a concern) as much as I am using my time wisely when I have so much of it. Oodles and oodles of time.

In reference to the title of this blog. This wound situation is really for experienced players only, after 22 years and at least six reconstructive surgeries on my ass, thumb, left calf, left heel… I can handle this. And yes it’s funny. The odd thing and frankly, the most disappointing thing is that it’s only funny to me. That’s fine by me, it’s my lifeboat. Laughing at all this bullshit and maintaining a tight grip on the one true Steve, has delivered me through half a lifetime on a cross I did not ask for. Another 30 days just cracks this motherfucker up.

28 years ago a diving accident left me paralyzed from the neck down in a wheelchair. It has been an outrageous experience beyond imagining. All this time I've been learning about myself and just how challenging a Life can get. Beautiful in places, not so much in others. But, I choose Love and to seek out beauty wherever it is. Maybe share some where there isn't any. No matter what, I want to spread the Golden Rule we all learned growing up. Peace and blessings.
